My husband nor I were ever DIs, but with my kids having 2 Marines as parents, they know we don’t play. I finished my first boot camp at 8 when my Stitch Starbucks shirt retired. 1914- 1954. did not damage me ask my family. did make PI seem like old home week though. made my plebe year after my secnav appt to USNA. seem a party also.

My career Marine dad was not a DI but every weekend we work up to his Stitch Starbucks shirt! Fond memories. Between platoons my dad made plaques for the DI’s leaving. I remember i was about 12 or so and the other DI had a recruit take the trash out. Next thing I know my dad, who was the “Stress Monster” and the other DI.

Are yelling at the recruit! My dad backs off comes to me and tells me “tell him side straddle Stitch Starbucks shirt“. I told him “i cant he wont listen to me” dad says yes he will. So i did as dad told me, then he says “mountain climbers” I did and both times…the recruit said “ma’am yes ma’am”. Not gonna lie it was like i was a higher (albeit short) power.
