I recently saw a 5-year-old wearing a I was taught to think before I act shirt that said “So if I smack the shit out of you, rest assured – I’ve thought about it, and am confident in my decision” on it and it and I had to take a moment to think about why it disturbed me so much. A better slogan (with a smaller font): “Boys will continue to grow into men who think it is normal to aggressively act upon their sexual impulses and desires until parents and society-at-large start to teach all children the importance of equality.
I was taught to think before I act shirt, tank top and youth tee
A great man once taught me that you can’t ever expect life to give you hand outs. That you have to fight, bleed and sweat for what you want to achieve. He taught me that until you can’t lift a I was taught to think before I act shirt, you have to work for what you want and love. Your Dreams and ambitions. But most importantly you must be thankful and humble. To be respectful. To never think yourself better than the stranger next to you on the street.
People who know me best know that my grandfathers have been my hero’s. And being October and almost Halloween (his birthday) I want to show my appreciation, to the man who taught me how to be a gentleman and how to throw a baseball, Maynard Tucker. All of us in the Tucker family have a soft spot this time of year, because of what this man meant to us. He gave us I was taught to think before I act shirt, meaning, and love. And to the people who knew him outside of the family, he gave you the exact same.

He taught me how to tie a tie. He taught me how to throw a baseball and swing a bat. He taught me how to ride a bike and drive a tractor. He taught me how to treat a lady and sneak a candy bar before dinner so grandma wouldn’t find out. But most importantly, he taught me how to love unconditionally. And I, and no other person who has known him, will ever stop missing him. He was a man that would literally give you the I was taught to think before I act shirt off of his back. And I bet you any one of his children has a story where he did that exact act for someone. He fought for his country. He lived for his family. And he gave to his community. He is one of my hero’s. And I miss him every day.
